More House Pics
I added a few more house pics to the set on Flickr.
You can find them here.
As many of you know, when I was in grad school, my research often involved studying colons and poop. Well, here I am in Botswana and part of my work here is also helping with a research study looking at vomiting and diarrhea in children. I was getting oriented to the project yesterday and that also involved taking stool samples from their containers and moving them to test tubes to test for common viruses.
The whole thing made me chuckle to myself a bit. Some things never change!
Botswana Bound, a set on Flickr.
Here are some pictures from our travels last weekend en route to Gaborone, Botswana!
German Guest House, a set on Flickr.
We thought we should post some pictures of where we are staying here in Gaborone.
All of the houses here are surrounded by walls and most have a large front gate. We need to use four different keys to get from the outside perimeter to our room: front gate, front door gate, front door, and room key. It’s taking some getting used to, but overall, we feel very safe. (I get more annoyed by having to figure out which key is which!) It’s not warm enough for the pool yet, but it looks like it would be nice in the hot summer.
Great to see where you are staying!
Thanks for the pics- the place looks great!
We are still in the process of figuring out the best way to get consistent Internet access here in Gaborone. Right now it involves standing by the wall outside our apartment to get within range of the neighbours wifi (who we know, so we have their permission!). We will try and improve on this shortly and hopefully have some pictures to post soon as well.
We slept 13 hours last night so felt great today but we will see tonight if we are still jet lagged.
More updates soon.
UPDATE: August 4 – we seem to have a reasonable internet solution working now, which basically means no more standing by the wall. For now… We know things can change, but we are currently happy to at least be able to check email without having to go out into the cold evenings!
We made it!
We are safe in Gaborone. Just getting settled in. Will update more later about our travels so far.
More soon.
So glad to hear you and your luggage??? arrived safely….good luck getting settled…Leslie & Vic
Relax and enjoy some rest! We are happy to hear you arrived safe & sound!
Arrived in London without any difficulties. Part way through our 8 hour layover right now. Sitting with Amanda having a latte and an English breakfast tea before heading onwards.
The bags are packed and we are at the airport waiting to board our flight. We take the red-eye to London tonight, and then due to the time change and a layover, we take the red-eye from London to Johannesburg the next night. After another layover, we take a short flight to Gaborone, Botswana. Not sure of the total time of travel, but I think it’s safe to say we are in for some serious jet lag this week!
I will try and post again when we finally arrive or if anything interesting happens along the way!
nice shoes
Yesterday was our six year wedding anniversary! We spent the day kayaking in Gananoque and the Thousand Islands. It was a perfect day from a weather stand point. We had a great guide and it was great to be outside.
All the photos can be seen here.
Six years! Has it been that long? Your wedding still ranks as one of our all time favourites, a really special day.
Another plugin to try.
Test post to posterous.
