Cape Town – Hoerikwaggo Trail

Last weekend, Amanda and I traveled to Cape Town. We are proud to say that we successfully completed the 5 day, 4 night Hoerikwaggo Trail from Cape Point to the top of Table Mountain. The whole trail was just over 70 km. We stayed in wonderful tented camps along the way which are run by the South Africa National Parks.

While hiking, we worked on the blog post together each night, and Amanda has posted the full recap of the trip so I will leave it at that for all the details.

Amanda’s full post can be found here.

All the photos from the trip are posted here.

UPDATE: We have also decided to release the full, unedited details of the trip (our notes we took each night). Anyone who is interested in more details can find them here.

  2. Hi Andy !

Hope you’re fine. I’m from Quebec City!
My husband and I are leaving in two weeks for our trip in South Africa. We will be in SA for 1 month mostly for hiking. We reserved the tent camp for the Hoerikwaggo and we have the Slingsby Maps… but I have a couple of questions.
Could it be possible to get your email?
    Here’s some :

Do you think a GPS could be useful (necessary)
Did you stop for a little stop grocery in Kommetjie (end of day 2)
How did you manage your transport between the end of day 1 and the beggining of day 2 (to Red Hill)

    — Any tips?

    Best regards,

    Marie-Eve

PS: did you hike in the Drakensburg? If yes, day hike suggestions?
