This past weekend was my 28th birthday and Amanda surprised me with a weekend away in the mountains. We spent Friday night in Canmore and then headed into Kananaskis Country on Saturday morning. We hiked about 6.5 km into Lillian Lake where we camped for the night. After setting up the tent, we proceeded up to the Galatea Lakes which was a steeper 1.5 km hike – it was nice not having to carry the big packs anymore though! The scenery was spectacular as you’ll see in the photos. We had a bit of rain on the trip, but nothing to make us get too wet – all in all, the weather cooperated quite well for us.
On Sunday morning, we woke up to the sounds of a huge moose eating some of the plants and flowers about 10 feet from our tent which was pretty exciting! We then did the hike back out and returned to Calgary in time for dinner. Thanks to Amanda for a great birthday weekend!
